You cannot grow a rose;
     you can only create the conditions in which a rose can grow. - Ram Dass

The philosophy of parenting that has evolved during my 30+ years as a psychologist and a mother is best summed up in these eloquent words by the spiritual teacher, Ram Dass. My experiences and this philosophy has led to the development of both a stand-alone book and a comprehensive program to help parents and caregivers develop the basis for growing healthy, happy, balanced children.

The Growing Children Program

The Growing Children Program is offered both in group sessions and as an online workshop that you take at your own pace from the comfort of home. During the class you will learn: You cannot grow a rose; you can only create the conditions in which a rose can grow.

The Growing Children Book

Growing Children is a parent's "Coach-in-a-Book". It takes your intimate knowledge of your child, as well as the "big picture" view of how children grow and what they need from caregivers to grow an infant into a balanced, happy and healthy adult. Just as the gardener is the only one who knows what the big oak tree or the tender rose looked like at the beginning of its life, the parent is the child's gardener -- planting or transplanting, tending to the earth, protecting the sapling and watching it grow into itself.

Your "Coach-in-a-Book" is here to expand your awareness of children's developmental progression and corresponding needs. It will also cover the ways to support and encourage the best and most robust growth, as well as how to respond to problems that exceed the range of typical developmental challenges.
